PH bet wins Gentlemen of the World in Indonesia.
A singer from Bicol won the inaugural Gentlemen of the World pageant in Manado, Indonesia Thursday night, October 24, 2019.
Mark Avila, of Naga City, also received the special awards Mr. Talent and Best in National Costume.
Other winners were Malaysia, 1st runner up; Singapore, 2nd runner-up; Indonesia, 3rd runner-up; and Pakistan, 4th runner-up.
Avila, 25, earned the right to represent the country in the international competition when he won as Mr. Universe Tourism Gentleman in the World Philippines 2018 organized by Dr. Jumel Bornilla and Manix Genabe.
The Bicolano musician is known to fans as one of the artists who made it to the blind auditions of the Voice of the Philippines Season 2 in 2014. He belonged to Team Apl.de.ap.
Avila said that it was his mom, a frustrated singer, who inspired him to audition for the popular reality show.
During the blind auditions, it was the Black Eyed Peas member who was the first one to turn his chair when Avila sang “Ordinary People” by John Legend.
